Did you know? Even if your living will and advance directive documents have been witnessed and notarized, they are still not legally binding. Yes, you read that correctly. Even though your loved one’s doctors should abide by them, they can refuse to comply if they have an objection of conscience or consider the patient’s wishes to be medically inappropriate. And the law is on the doctors’ side.
The truth is that these documents were not created to protect the patient. They were created to protect the doctor if they did follow the patient’s wishes. That way, the family couldn’t sue.
So if you can’t ensure that doctors will abide by the living will, even if discussed ahead of time, what can you do?
That’s what this seminar is about—making decisions ahead of time and being as ready as possible for what might come. We all need to take matters into our own hands as early as possible to make sure we are prepared before we find ourselves in a stressful state of crisis.
